Black and White Night is this Friday, November 4th, the mother of all First Fridays! Come spend the evening in downtown Hilo – most every store is open late, offering sales, snacks, and sometimes entertainment. Hilo Art & Glass Supply will offer free black and white face painting to embellish your evening. The excitement wraps up in Moheau Bandstand with music and prizes.
The Fall Art Show opens at The East Hawaii Cultural Center this Friday, Black and White night, from 5-7 PM. This is a dynamite exhibit of the very best of a large number of artists. This must see exhibit is on display at the cultural center through Thanksgiving. The
Holiday Craft fair takes place at the EHCC on November 24th from 9AM to 5PM. This is a great place to get a bunch of Christmas shopping out of the way in a non-stressful environment!
The Hilo Art Museum in the Hilo Ironworks building hosted “Fifty/Fifty” a modern, edgy, street art exhibit by a huge group of modern artists. On Saturday, November 10th the Museum hosts a skateboarding movie night starting at 6:30PM. See “Let’s do this,” a Transworld Skate Video, and “The Rising Son” a documentary about Christian Hosoi, The Flyin’ Hawaiian. Check out www.hiloartmuseum.org for more details. November 16th is the Try Unity dance with DJs Spencerobotix, Rubio and Maestro. Doors open at 9 with a $5 admission. This is an 18+ event. The Fifty/Fifty surf/skate art show is on exhibit at in the Hilo Art Museum through November 30th, and the admission is now free!

3rd annual Drum & Percussion Festival
Kicks off this Saturday, Nov. 3 at Kalakaua Park, with a free outdoor Drumming in the Park event. This is a Bare and Core Expressions event, and you can check out details on their website www.bareandcore.org. A Youth Percussion Contest will be held after the opening performance. The main concert of the Drum & Percussion Festival is scheduled for Sat. Nov 10 at Palace Theater at 6pm. It’ll be an exciting evening of world percussion, featuring traditional & contemporary percussion performances from Africa, Brazil, Cuba, Hawaii, Korea, Okinawa, Trinidad and many more. The concert will be accompanied by a silent auction with many valuable items for the music lover.
