Sunny Seal - Pastels, watercolors and mixed media
Like a Hawaiian song my work reveres the beauty of nature while communicating an underlying message. Working in pastels, watercolors and mixed media my “piece/peace of life” paintings are for closer contemplation. I use the natural landscape as a reflection of spirituality. I often paint orchids as growing them is a hobby andtheir beauty inspires me. Painting sunrises is my muse. I have spent 33 years in Hawaii appreciating its natural beauty, doing art and teaching keiki. I have had two solo shows: one at Wailoa State Gallery and one at Border’s Books in Hilo. I have been juried into over a dozen shows and been awarded in my pastel work. As an avid hiker, island landscapes have inspired my work. I am currently a member of the East Hawaii Cultural Center, Pastel Artist’s of Hawaii, Waimea Arts Council and the Pastel Society of New Mexico.
